Spring Robin |
||
Spring Robin - original I am guilty of enjoying some of the most mundane pleasures from time to time, including, but not limited to, a springtime robin. Robins are wonderful little birds - they're not flash, they don't get about doing anything all that particularly brilliant, - yet the outdoors don't have the same sparkle when they leave. Waiting for robins to return is a bit like waiting for spring. You can't see it from here, but you just have to believe it's out there. Method: The girl in this image actually existed. Referenced from a photograph taken in 1911, when braided hair worn up with hugely oversized bowery was all the rage, the style of her hair to the pattern of her dress has been recreated in color for the first time. Sepia ink was used to give the image a classic illustration feel, then the layers of watercolor were added. Oh, and in case you were wondering, this little girl would grow up to be this artist's great-grandmother. Price: $ 380 |
